Operations Analysis Study In order to perform an accurate business and technical analysis for a business system application, both existing paper-based workflow and computer-based information must be understood thoroughly. Only then do we determine the technical specifications of the required system, savings that will be achieved through the implementation of an imaging or workflow system and the potential additional savings that will result from redesigned workflow and streamlined paperwork processes. Understanding Current Workflow We develop a thorough understanding of the current workflow, beginning with the arrival of the paper in the mailroom through its processing stations, followed by storage and, finally, retrieval that results in records retention requests. To fully understand the paper process, we sometimes develop document flowcharts. These flowcharts may be time-consuming, but they will become important tools in the final system design and will establish our complete understanding of the business processes.
